Track Talk :

Breaking Out: Running a race faster than you predict. If you break out, you can lose, even if you have a faster time than the other person.
Burnout: Spinning the tires and revving the engine before a race. Done to heat the engine and clean rocks off the tires.
Christmas Tree: Like a traffic light that counts down (from top to bottom, usually yellow, yellow, yellow, green) to indicate when to start.
Dial-In: Your prediction of how fast your car will run a track, determined by the time trials the day of the race. The wind can affect your dial-in, so you have to adjust your driving if the weather changes after your time trial.
A .500 Light or .000 on the LED tree: A perfect reaction time at the starting line.
Red Lighting: Jumping the gun, starting before the green light. An automatic loss.
Sandbagging, Finish-line driving: It's like slowing down the car and trying to pace the other racer so that he breaks out or at least breaks out more than you do.
